Trisakti University alumni who are members of the Trisakti Volunteer Line for Indonesia (TUI) met with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. TUI Chairman Muhanto Hatta said the meeting discussed a number of current issues, including the issue of intolerance, radicalism and the government’s efforts to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We discussed with Pak Mahfud Md about the current national situation. The discussion was relaxed and family friendly, ”said Muhanto in his written statement.
Muhanto said, TUI said that the government must move quickly to deal with the problem of intolerance and radicalism. They are of the opinion that all levels have been affected by this problem, ranging from school children, teachers, to students, state civil servants, and even state-owned company employees.
Muhanto also mentioned the existence of provocative social organizations (mass organizations). He asked the government to enforce Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) Number 2 of 2017 concerning Community Organizations or Perpu Ormas. According to him, there should be no place for mass organizations that do not side with Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, and the Republic of Indonesia.
